Words and their inconsequentiality

I have been silent for a while.. Silent in the sense, that i have not let myself drift too far into the realm of thought and the wide open stretches beyond thought.. For various reasons, I seem to have been caught up in the actions and responses of day-to-day life.. This post, is just a random typing exercise to just see whats happenin within the head i do not direct..

I suppose it would be a worthy argument to say that if i did not direct myself to write this, then who is? Well, the thing is, i do not make up the stuff i write, think over them, ponder, decide in what direction the theme of this post should go, etc etc.. True, my mind does play a role here, but that is limited to mere editing and mayb at times, choice of words used.. So, on the whole, this is a pretty decent reflection of the state of things within that portion of the mind that is not completely controlled by the basic presence of the me in it..

Yeah, i tend to not make sense some times, using random terms and phrases that seem to make sense only to me.. But, for anyone who is able to grasp the concept of what lies behind this post, and not just the words given here, the phrases I use should be of no consequence at all.. This is something i hold in very high regard..

Most ppl of this world give so much importance to the words used that they hardly look at what is being said at all.. I believe its somethin lik a disease we all suffer from.. WHen a person says "hello" with a smile, most people only look at the greeting that comes with it.. Some others will feel certain emotions that tell them somethings about the person offering the greeting.. Very very few people understand that the greeting is hardly necessary.. The person could've very well said "moron" with a smile and it wouldn've made a difference.. There are certain very tangible things that no one really looks at, or even realise that they can look for..

I seem to have nothin more to tell about this.. mayb as a deepeer understanding of this topic is yet to happen within my head.. I don't kno.. But for watever reason, I shall have to end this subject here for now and move on to other things that i might have to do..

The Joker's Philosophy

The year 2007 saw the release of a movie whose Academy Award winning character revolutionized the concept of cinematic villains. The movie in question is Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight; and the new bad-guy is the Late Heath Ledger’s Joker. This new Joker was unlike any of the earlier versions of the character. Crazier, more charismatic, more psychotic and in a strange way, he made sense. I was impressed with the basic ideologies which The Joker conveyed and after watching the movie more than 8 times, I began pondering on certain social aspects that The Joker touched upon.

The first question that popped up was, ‘What is this Society’? What does it do? Why does it conform to a system of Law and Order? First of all, I believe we must try and define this concept of order.

Order, as in, Law and Order, is a set of guidelines that are drawn after extensive consideration of all aspects of human and social behavior such that the greatest beneficiary is the majority that forms the society, and how deviations from this norm must be dealt with for the efficient functioning of the same.

Is such a thing required? Nobody knows. But since such a tradition has been around since time immemorial, no one questions its existence. Every self help book advertises one thing – constantly challenge yourself, for that’s what makes you stronger. But society as a whole, hates such challenges as it would mean constantly adapting and therefore developing towards a state where majority is overtaken by the individual responsibility. And while everything is perfectly in place and trudging along to the satisfaction of the ruling majority, The Joker arrives.

A nihilist believes that there is no real purpose to life and the world in general.

An anarchist believes in removal of existing orders for various reasons.

An agent of Chaos believes that the purpose of life lies in removing the order, not for want of lack of it, but just for the fun of it.

The Joker is “The Agent of Chaos”, for he believes that chaos is the only thing that is impartial in this world. Rules can be interpreted as required, giving an undue advantage to the more educated people. The Law can invariably be bought by money. Power mostly resides with money, while respect and dignity let you just be where you are.

Chaos gets things done. Anyone who is harmed by it was not harmed by any plan or specific targeting. They were harmed because of their own actions which lead them into a position where they are the most probable to get affected by the situation.

The Joker serves as a mirror for the society’s imbalances in its quest for order and rules. He shows how imperfect laws are and how easily the very majority who formed the laws are ready to break it for their individual survival. The joker likens himself to a dog chasing cars. “I wouldn’t know what to do if I actually caught one. I just DO things. I am a wrench in the gears.”

He explains how society values itself greater than the individual and the importance it gives to order and how it gets threatened when its authority is challenged. He says, “if I tell the press that tomorrow a truckload of soldiers will blow up, nobody panics, coz it’s all according to plan. But if I say that one little old mayor will die, everybody loses their minds!” Soldiers are expected to die. So, it seems that it’s ok to kill them, because that is what they are meant for. How different is the soldier’s life from the mayor’s? Both are human lives. How is society able to accept such contradictions!!?

In another instance, the joker shows how the people on the street are ready to kill an individual, in fear of their own lives. The commoners actually patrol the streets with guns to murder one man because the Joker says “if that man lives tonight, I will blow up a hospital”. Again, the concept of ‘The Greater Good’ raises its ugly head. It is intriguing though, to wonder, how those people would have reacted if they had been made the targets.

In a final dialogue with Batman, The Joker comments on how incorruptible batman is as he just will not kill. He refers to their meeting as “what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.”

What we need to look at in this character is, what was his primary objective? Was it to kill the batman? Obviously not as he himself laughs at the question and says “I won’t kill you, because you are just too much fun.” Joker is not such a simple person. The whole game with Batman was just his own “fun” way of showing humanity how decadent and manipulatable we have become. A rude awakening I suppose.

The Joker can only be understood if we look beyond social norms, taboos and the rigid fencing we have covered ourselves in. The philosophy of the joker is not in anarchy, but in chaos. Chaos is NOT a state where order cannot exist. It is a state where order is simply one of the possibilities. In that way, The Joker can truly be considered, not just as a simple psychopath, but a true Revolutionary.

Society.. What is it?

Unwritten rules, mindless followers, curbing free expression, suppressing emotions, being 'civil', keeping yourself in check.. basic normal signs of a "society"..

but what is this society? It seems to be everywhere.. It 'lives' through people, having a very strong grip over all those who come under it.. Its like a thunder cloud, with its own droplets nd storms..

All minds are expected to conform to the unsaid rules of the society.. It decides whois 'proper and improper', who and wat is 'good and bad', etc etc etc..

Society is a boon for so many ppl who fear themselves..

Most ppl are scared of being alone.. they fear being left to themselves.. they fear madness as they will need to think for themselves.. 

but wat they truly fear, is "FREEDOM"..

FREEDOM from the crowd..

FREEDOM from control..

FREEDOM of thought..

FREEDOM from rules..

this freedom comes with responsibility of being sincere to yourself.. the need to NOT think about wat others think about you.. the need to BE..

society closes room for change.. like rituals.. it abhorrs variety and rapid change.. and anything tat lives such is supposed to be crappy.. 

it is also wrong of us to say tat changin society is unstable and will crash..

true.. but isnt tat also a change?? how is it tat we are able to accept a profitable change but not one where we've to give up what we've got??

isnt tat also unfair? its is purely selfish.. this is the responsibility that comes with freedom..

society is anything tat believes in or finds happiness is gains.. gains of money, or ppl, or faith, or anything at all..

freedom, is not wanting.. just living.. exist.. find happiness with yourself.. all tat society has to offer are literally nothing..

U be sincere.. help wit all your heart.. love wit all your soul.. live with complete joy..

Understanding

A person is very "understanding".. they "know" what to say when nd what to do when nd where.. some ppl are just so "awake to the situation"..

we drop terms so easily, without thinking or having deep knowledge about the weightage they carry.. true, words dont mean a thing.. but when being used, it is important to put them where they belong..

Human beings have a big big problem.. and that is the very deep rooted belief that they DO have problems.. People who feel very traumatized by emotions, hurt by other "insensitive" people, humiliated by words spoken or actions performed against them, are definitely not in a position to be blamed.. they are but the victims of themselves and of the rest of the society..

A person is liked by many people when he/she is "polite", "caring", "understanding", "straighforward", "honest", etc etc..

but a person with all such characterisctics can still become the villain if he is honest at the "wrong time" or truthful when he "should know better"..

so what is the point, or where do all the good qualities disappear in such situations?? why is it tat a person who sticks to these morals and values is criticised for living upto the very qualities tat are praised and spoken about??

the answer does not lie in questioning the traits, or the person.. the answer lies within the delicately carved framework that humans called "society".. many minds, together form certain rules and divisions which, everybody is expected to fall into.. these become social rules and moral ethical codes that ppl "should" follow for a healthy living.. 

any person who speaks their mind out is scorned by the majority who strongly believe in these rules as it means lesser resposibility on the individual..

so who is ultimately the person who "understands"??

THAT would be the one individual who realises how futile the social framework is, and just does what they as an individual believe is right.. As these traits come from the true self of the individual, therefore there's no unrealistin notion in wat they do..

this absolute reality is wat comes out nd therefore, anythin they do comes without bein held back.. they do what they believe they should and not wat society expects out of them..

here, it must be said that such a true person can never be a real "boon" to society as very soon, the same society that hails him would be the first to convict him of being sincere.. it will tarnish nd toture him for bein tru to his self nad scorn him..

the true realised being, knows how futile society really is, nd is therefore unaffected and continues being the epitome of virtue..

such a person is a real person who "understands", is "caring nd compassionate", who is truly "affectionate" and is completely at peace with himself..

Alone?? GREAT!!

Ppl have got to get many things straightened out..

Acc to me, the most important thing would be the "emotional" concept of LONELINESS or being ALONE..

for starts, the two are completely different from each other..

Loneliness is a state of emotional imbalance where the mind searches unsuccessfully for companionship in others. Loneliness is extremely unhealthy and HAS to be rooted out. Many ppl today suffer from this, which is why we have so many ego clashes, rivalry, jealousy, etc etc. 

Being ALONE, on the other hand, is spendin time with yourself.. understanding yourself and observing yourself.. it is a very healthy trend and helps u keep a check on yourself.. it gives u more strength and helps u challenge your fears and problems.. Morre time we spend with ourselves, the better we become..

There is a lot of confusion between these two terms.. it has been messed up time and again.. most people believe that the only real way to live is being surrounded by loving, caring ppl, friends, ppl u can fall back on, etc etc etc..

Agreed.. such a life is very good.. but the more u depend on others, the more mentally strained u become.. When you begin to get affected by things like ppl callin you names, teasing, ragging, etc, it shows how weak u are mentally.. U appear as a person who does not trust himself/herself and cannot fallback on yourself for support..

The greatest leaders are ppl who believed in themselves.. u do need ppl around u to support u, true.. but not havin such ppl doesnt mean u are not worth it..

Ppl have this "need" to be wanted and appreciated.. but once u become strong mentally, even if the whole world hates you, u will still stand and fight..

automatically, others who sense the strength within you will come towards you.. they will look up to you to overcome their own fears.. U will liberate them..

Spend time alone.. Why confuse with loneliness.. loneliness comes from desire.. desire is probably the worst of all psychological issues we have to deal with.. spend time alone..

Switch off your cell phones for abt half an hour everyday..

take a walk without your ipod..

breathe fresh air and feel the goodness..

You will find your inner silence..

Find that and NOTHING can shake u or break you..

U Stand by ourself.. its YOUR life.

A few thoughts on Love

Wat is expressing love? Is it all abt hugs and kisses and holding hands? Is it abt long walks alone and long sweet talks? Then wat is it? Well.. The above thing mayb some of the aspects in which expression of love expresses itself.. But real expression of love is tat wonderful safe, secure, satisfied feeling tat we experience.. Tat amazing peace and silence in our heads.. A small smile tat says it all.. And a sparkle in the eyes tat mystify and dazzle.. Real love does not need means of being expressed.. It is just felt and known.. Its lik realisation of the being.. Exhilaration.. Happiness.. Excitement.. All mixed into one.. Its just all smiles.. But without having to smile.. The smile is in the personality.. The vibes will be there.. It cannot be hidden. . Live it to kno it..

Why is love such a big issue? Wat is tat soul moving thing abt love for which it is talked abt, debated, made into movies, etc, etc, etc!? It is such an emotional ordeal.. Why do ppl go thru it? And how the heck is the pain "pleasureable"?? Wat sparks off love? Wats so magical abt it? Ppl say its the union of two souls.. But arent all souls part of One? Wat uniting is there? If love is all abt attachment, isnt tat a big burden? Love should liberate.. Not hold back.. It should elevate.. Not deviate.. It should live.. Not die.. It should be.. Not become.. If love can "come", it can also leave.. True love is just a realisation of wat exists.. An attraction tat results owing to knowledge.. True love comes from insight.. Does not need impressing.. Its a part of nature.. It'll always exist.. Loving is not an action or emotion.. It is living.. Love has no bounds.. And cannot be restricted.. It can not die.. And so.. It can never live..

I cant say love is abt lust.. Lust is a part of love.. But is not love itself.. Friendship, trust, respect, affection.. According to me, this is the basis of love.. You need to have respect for each other.. Should be able to take each other for granted, at the same time, realise the other person's needs and emotions.. Its a culmination of many things.. Causes vary, the way its expressed vary, results vary.. But its kinda impossible to fix a point definition for it..

Today love is increasingly becoming physically oriented.. Looks, eyes, lips, shape, etc take precedence over behaviour, character, innocence, etc.. Searching for real love in today's world is pretty tough.. Literally lik finding a needle in a hay stack.. But its out there.. But i doubt if love is something tat goes beyond the heart.. Lik to the soul.. I dunno if love is the eternal truth lik many ppl say.. I dont even think love is eternal..
